Isn’t it ironic how Pope Benedict XVI who is of German origin had served in the Vatican of Italy and then passed hands to the current Pope Francis of Buenos Aires and son of Italian immigrants? Isn’t it ironic how Korea has elected a female president in a male dominated society?Isn’t it ironic how my Jewish girlfriend had first invited me to Carassauga in my early high school years because she danced in the Egyptian Pavilion? These are beautiful colorblind moments of my life which I cherish. Sometimes by circumstance of posting, locality, or personal experience, these colorblind events are rare. The irony is that I am seeking my true colors where I tried to blend in order to bring engagement. This story is about the land that I proudly inhabit and a reflection of another country which I proudly behold upon my face. I can’t undo all that my father has done for me as he was building communities while facing challenges with language while making ends meet in order to survive in a new land. I know we echo a similar story not so distant. Sometimes in strange ways we get signposts in life to remind us that we’re all ambassadors of something, someone or someplace and hopefully we carry this assignment with responsibility. Let’s look at what brings us together. Teach your children well…
